New ReviewerMy phone number had changed 2 weeks earlier. I had double placed an order but when I went into my Amazon account to cancel the order, my account asked for 2-step verification which is fine.
I had it set up previously when someone had hacked my Amazon account last Christmas and was buying items from Amazon using my credit card. I believe it must have been someone working at Amazon-in customer service-who had knowledge of my credit card and my purchase history. I would buy a lot at a time. So I could not get into my account to cancel one of the double orders, so I called them.
I told them my phone number had changed. They didn't help me until the next day after I had to speak with a manager. The person at customer service told me I had to wait for an email with a link and that it would take 24 hours. All that was a lie.
But that isn't even the kicker that I am letting you all know about. When I first called and that service person told me there would be a link, which was a lie, a few minutes after I hung up I got a SPAM text sent to my phone. There is no one else that had my new number, so it was the customer service person at Amazon is a cyber criminal. No ifs, ands or buts.
Be careful people. The workers at Amazon-some of them are criminals who wills steal your information!!
Now I will be going back many months double checking all of my purchases against my charges. Scary to think there are losers out there like that.
User's recommendation: Be very, very, very wary of the people who work at Amazon, especially the customer service people who answer the phone. They are criminals and will sell your information or try and spam you to steal your money. Lots of crazy people out there.
Preferred solution: I need the CEO of Amazon and the FTC informed that this happened, when it happened, and who I spoke with at customer service-that person needs to be named, fired and prosecuted because they are the ones who stole my phone number and spammed my phone. .

Everyone gets spam. I changed my number and get even more spam texts than before. That is because the person who had the number previously had signed up for all kinds of payday loans.
