Amazon - Fraud alert
Received a call from individuals who identified themselves as representatives of Amazon Prime. They were very anxious to have me contact Bank of America through them).
I was willing to do this but at the last minute I received another call, which I did not accept but which somehow resulted in my disconnection of a call with Bank of America. I called BOA on my own. I was assured that I my account was ok. I then decided to contact the reps from Amazon Prime.
I had asked the reps for the number which they provided as
888 280 ****.
This number was not related to Amazon Prime. I then called BOA again to report this development.
The reps identified themselves as
Ben Gilbert AMZ 52039 and his supervisor Kim Miller AMZ 42022
I was instructed (by BOA) that no further action on my part was required at this time.
User's recommendation: Divulge little or no information about your account. Insist on contacting your bank yourself.
Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.
