Amazon - Alaskans, shop for your electronics elsewhere
Amazon has been happy to take advantage of Anchorage's shipping hub for years, but good luck getting them to ship electronics to you in late 2019, even if you live right on top of that hub. Whether it's cheap $20 headphones or a $1000+ laptop, the red text on the listing is always the same these days: "This item requires special handling and cannot be shipped to your selected location."
Shipping electronics to Alaska via Amazon has always been an unstable bet at best, but in Q4 2019 it's become all but impossible. Save your sanity, order from a competitor like Best Buy instead. It's still not perfect, but it's a lot better.

Nearly all electronics insist that "special handling" is necessary and cannot be shipped to my city... which is the shipping hub for the entire North Pacific.

Almost every time I try to order something they say the item takes special handling and can't be shipped to my area. The items are not heavy or fragile. I think someone there is discriminating against me. They can't ship a sheet set?

My issue with Amazon has been resolve. The problem was that my address was not correct. It was showing my POB and my street address.

Amazon - My how the mighty has fallen.
I have been a loyal customer of Amazon for over 19 years having bought books back when that is all they sold. Fast forward to today and all of the screwed up orders and delayed deliveries. 4 ORDERS IN A ROW! Needless to say I am not going to be a customer any longer. I have cancelled my prime membership and am taking my business elsewhere. Way to loose a good customer. Keep it up and you'll be out od business fast. 3 orders with incorrect items and one not delivered as promised. I even took the slower shipping option rather than 2 day.

I ordered an item Monday morning. Tuesday morning I received a message from Amazon saying that my order had shipped, and was provided a tracking number. When I tracked the package, it just said ready for UPS. Here we are on Thursday, and the package still hasn’t shipped. I understand that this wasn’t an Amazon Prime order, and that UPS ground would take a while, but not shipping until at least 4 days later doesn’t help things. The seller’s shipping policy states “all orders shipped within two days”. If they couldn’t meet the shipment time frame, I should have been notified.

amazon prime lately has extremly bad shipping habits they advertise a certain time or date that your package will be there but dont sit and wait you can bank on getting that pachage at least 2 to 3 days later,all these sellers also charge taxes on most of the items you purchase so really how much are you saving I am going back to Ebay where they dont charge taxes and at least you know they do advertise fast shipping.VERY BAD FOR BUSINESS AMAZON PRIME.BOOOOOOOO

Hi, On December 3th, 2018, I bought 10 items which were delivered in 2 packages and it is supposed that both of them were delivered in the same day (7th december). However, I only received one. The missing one has this Tracking ID 1ZY8A3980328107834 I ask for my refunding because I travelled and do not need them any more. Thank you, Maggie Avila Salas

Completely agree about Amazon. Have had multiple private vehicles with out of state plates (not even the little blue van that at least has Amazon signage).
The drivers of these cars dump the package and peel out of our driveway. Also recently found that their concierge service is not what it used to be. They will not make it right when an item is received broken. Even if the web site indicates many of the same item is available they will not honor the prime shipping (which I pay for through my membership) that I used on the first order that came broken unless the replacement 3rd party seller offers it.
So they’ve become a pretty rigid company that does not empower their employees to pick up the shipping tab to replace a broken item that I already paid prime membership to have delivered quickly. The reps’ hands are tied.
Spent an hour on the phone and spoke to 3 levels of customer service. Now have no item and am completely turned off of Amazon.
