I ordered one item from Amazon.com LLC on 11 December 2007. The item was listed as IN STOCK. I opted for Free Shipping, as the item was over $25.
THIS ONE ITEM WILL NOT BE SHIPPED UNTIL 17 DECEMBER 2007. If you are looking to receive something from them BEFORE Christmas, you may well be out of luck.
In a separate order (placed later the same day), I ordered TEN items from SEVEN different outside vendors through the Amazon website. All items were in stock. These items will all be shipped on or before 13 December 2007. The vendors all sent confirmation emails.
Amazon.com has sent NO email confirmation for the order of one item. On their website, they say the item will be shipped 17 December, and should be received by 24 December 2007.
The reason for this prolonged DELAY OF ONE WEEK IN PROCESSING THE ORDER was not explained and leads me to believe that Amazon.com is NOT SHIPPING ORDERS PROMPTLY. They are making a wrong assumption that Christmas is when everything needs to arrive.
IN STOCK does NOT mean that your order will be SHIPPED in a timely manner. There is no mention on their website that your order will lie around for ONE WEEK BEFORE SHIPPING. Let the buyer BEWARE!
