I was banned by Amazon for ever leaving ANY review FOREVER. And that's Ok since I only left reviews to help other customers evaluate products. It was probably very clear from some of my book reviews that my middle of the road political leanings do not coincide with Amazon management's left wing leanings. I've left reviews on batteries, ink, paper, cell phone accessories, you name it, etc. Of course the form letter could never admit my political views were the reason I was censored. Here the form letter they sent to me:

"We have determined that you have violated our Community Guidelines. As a result, we have suppressed all of your reviews, and you will no longer be able to post community content on Amazon. This includes Customer Reviews.

Customer Reviews are meant to give customers unbiased product feedback from fellow shoppers. Because our goal is to provide Customer Reviews that help customers make informed purchase decisions, any accounts and reviews that could be viewed as advertising, promotional, or biased will be removed.

Your community privileges may have been revoked for one or more of the following reasons:

-- Elements of your account indicate a relationship to sellers, publishers, or other reviewers of the products you review.

-- Your reviews were posted in exchange for compensation, such as gift cards to purchase the product, product refunds, review swaps, or free or discounted products.

-- You requested free or discounted products in exchange for reviews.

We made this decision after carefully considering your account. This decision is final, and your community privileges will not be reinstated.

To learn more about our policies, please review the following on Amazon.com:

I loved the "We cannot share any further information about this decision, and we may not reply to further emails about this issue."

Most people will understand why Amazon would not want to "share ANY further information". They would have to reveal their bias and the reasons for the censorship.

Reason of review: Censorship.

Monetary Loss: $9999.

Preferred solution: End the ban, stop the censorship. Reveal the real reason for the ban and censorship. Have a more transparent process when imposing censorship. .

Amazon Cons: Censorship banning veviewers, Banning reviewers without a specific reason, Censorship.

Same here. As soon as I selected NRA as my Amazon Smile recipient, poof.

They banned me. I emailed them back and was told that the van was elected. About a week later I want to review a product I bought and was informed I had violated guidelines. I made the call, ask them what it was I did wrong and would they mind showing me proof.

For snidely I was told we don’t have to. They banned me. I emailed them back and was told that the van was lifted. About a week later I went to review a product that lot and was informed I had violated guidelines.

I made the call, ask them what it was I did wrong and would they mind showing me proof. For snidely I was told we don’t have to. I informed them that it’s a shame because the money I had set aside for the next year‘s Amazon fee was going to be a donation to NRA in Jeff Bezos name. Probably not the best thing to tell them but I was pissed.

Went without it for a couple years and then frontier cable bought me a year so I went back. I figure hey I didn’t pay for it directly.

I understand you 100%. You are completely correct.

Amazon did the same to me. As soon as you have been flagged as being conservative, they ban you.

Of course they don’t give that as the reason, they claim you violated some ridiculous rule, it’s nonsense. They are biased, and in the end it will cost them.

You're a crackpot. Amazon sells thousands of books by Conservative writers, including Ann Coulter, Pat Buchanan and Bill O'Reilly, but you think its going to take the time to scrub reviews of one in a million pissant reviewers for being Conservative? Get real.

In answer to your question. Yes.

That's my theory. If you have a a better one, please elaborate.

It suddenly happened to me also. I am disabled, retirement age and mostly a shut in with no relationship with sellers, other reviewers and I certainly never asked anyone for a thing.

What is sad is they give you no reason and there is no recourse. I have spent a lot of my income every month for 12 years buying from them but not again, they sell so much that they don't need my business. You consider they were being political with you but why they did it to me is a complete mystery which will never be solved.

There are a lot of places to buy online including Walmart who is gearing up to compete with Amazon so they are shooting themselves in the foot as such things get around. Doing such a thing without explanation and no recourse is actually quite stupid of them because it shows who they are.
