Amazon policy protects crooks

I purchased $100 gift certificate and mailed it in a card for Christmas to my daughter. Her neighbor stole the card from the mail and Amazon forced the police to subpoena the crooks info. They made it difficult for the police not easy. Why does Amazon feel they have more of an obligation to protect the criminal than the victim (and customer)? Just as a point of reference, the card also had a $200 Walmart card in it and within 10 minutes of contacting the service desk, I got a printed receipt of the spending of the gift card and they allowed police to view video footage of person spending gift card. Yah, you could say I'm pissed!

Why is it Amazons fault a thief stole your mail? They did exactly what they were supposed to do: force you to file a police report.

They owe you nothing. The crook owes you restitution. if you buy a car and it gets stolen do you think the dealer will give you a new car for free?

As for the law protecting the crooks, that is not Amazon's fault either.

That is your government at work. Blame them.

Don't bother paying for expedited shipping. They will tell you it will be delivered in 2 - 6 days, take your money and then in your confirmation, they will confirm in writing that it will take 2 - 10 days. Therefore if it arrives 7 - 10 days, they will refer to your...

I agree with prior comment stating you need to pay extra for expedited shipping. Amazon.com has excellent customer service low priced or free shipping options.

Amazon.com uses a variety of mail carriers and sometimes the carrier offers a tracking number that Amazon.com can post to your order. If the tracking information says 'Left the Seller Facility' then that means Amazon.com has shipped your package. Now it is up to UPS, USPS, Fed/Ex, etc. to send updates your shipping.

For example, USPS may not post an update until the package is delivered.

Non compliance with N.Y. tax code publication 717-C 6/1/13 | Amazon review from New York, New York

I prepaid using a $100.00 Amazon.com gift card to purcase clothing. My gift card balance was $105.84 and my total purchase was $104.71. Amazon refused to ship my order unless I paid sail tax. Everyone in NYC knows that clothing and shoes sales under $110.00 are exempt from sales tax, according to Publication 718-C . Amazon sent me more than 10 e-mails claiming no knowledge of the tax law and recommending that I see a tax specialist. Amazon kept my payment and my clothing, so I filed a tax fraud complaint on line. I'm taking my e-mails to small claims court. Amazon.com has used zip codes to target and prey on black inner city consumers. Amazon's gift card sales have flooded inner city stores. What consumers don't know about is the Amazon bait & switch, trick and trap shipping scams that can inflate and exceed 50% of the total cost. Black neighborhoods need Amazon.com, like they need church and cross burnings .

Amazon.com has offices at 1350 Ave.of the Americans in NYC,doing business like everyone else who complies with the tax code. Why are their attorneys trying to sue New York, just so Amazon can avoid the tax code?. If it walks like a tax cheat, and talks like a crook, it must be an Amazon thief.

Couple things at play here: if Amazon is based in any state other than NY, then you pay sales tax, as they are required to collect per their home states law. NY sales tax law applies ONLY to NY merchants. If you purchased from the marketplace where the products are offered by individuals, then unless that person's business is based in NY, then NY state law does not apply to that seller.

"What consumers don't know about is the Amazon bait & switch, trick and trap shipping scams that can inflate and exceed 50% of the total cost."

Please, give us ONE example of Amazon.com doing this. Don't try to tell us that third-party sellers and Amazon are the same either.

New York charges sales tax on all internet purchases, this supersedes tax exemptions on clothing.

Have fun wasting your time over $5.

Scam and useless amazon

So I buy a kindle fire hd, after using it a while i didn't see any need to have it as it wasn't what i wanted.I then decided to sell on Gumtree, a few emails come through and a guy is interested and asks for FSN number to check it genuine. Fair enough there's been enough reports about fake ones. This guy then checks, and reports this kindle as stolen. The kindle is now unusable. I report it to the police, the anti fraud and amazon themselves.Amazon are refusing to take my kindle off the black list, despite me buying it and having all details for it. They refuse to be helpful at all. Even after the anti fraud team saying it can be removed!!

Gift Card RIP OFF!! | Amazon review from Houston, Texas

Tried to use gift card on site, had customer NON-service assist - hit with "pre-authorization" charges that were initially removed when card could not be processed. For 5 days, still has not be refunded. Customer NON-service said it takes 7-10 days for them to refund....then told me I need to call the issuer to refund it, that "we don't do that." Several run ins now with HORRIBLE customer service - leave you on hold for heaven knows how long, without resolution. Cancelling account now. Will use any other resource before using them ever again. Ridiculous and end result is run around. "VALUE OF LOSS - MY TIME that I won't get back!"

What a bunch of *** Amazon has some of the best customer service around, and yes, when you use a credit/debit card you get pending charges!! Don't use financial products if the policies are too complicated for you to understand!!

The same thing happened to me. The order form says Orders Processed Immediately - We get the book to you very quickly - 3 months and still waiting!

Don't think I'm going to see this book. Poor show Amazon for affiliating yourself to such a shoddy company.

Laptop return | Amazon review from Newcastle Upon Tyne, England

I bought a laptop through amazon. I paid £750. However, I was very dissatisfied with the laptop. I wanted to return it after 2days it was delivered, but the seller wanted to cut %15 from my refund. Even, their return policy doesnt say anything about for 14 days return. Thus, I didnt send the laptop back and made a complain about the seller to the amazon, but they didnt do anything and I lost my money for a worthless item. I tried to contact the seller but they told me that they are contacting the amazon, so wait a reply from amazon, which I didnt get any.

Inconsiderate Amazon seller and no response

I ordered an item as a Christmas gift, which was actually given on Dec 28th, as we traveled to the recipient's home after Christmas Day. We didn't arrive home until after Jan 2, the deadline from the Amazon seller (ebusiness). My first request to return the item, which was around Jan 8 (I didn't then know about their deadline) went unanswered. I tried again and was told it wasn't returnable. So 3 things: 1) January 2 is an inconsiderate deadline.2) There's no excuse for not responding to a customer, and 3) it is nearly impossible to contact Amazon with a complains such as this. The menu of options doesn't address it as an option. What is, I suppose meant to make contacting them easy, is a lesson in frustration. Less business - far less - for Amazon from me, and none for ebusiness.

AMAZON STOLE MY MONEY

My amazon account had a $100 gift card balance on it. I placed an order with my credit card on Amazon and received a message that my account is on-hold until I fax in a credit card statement with my name and billing address on it. I was told my account would be restored once I fax these documents. Not only has my account no been restored but each time I fax in the required documents I receive a message that I did not fax in the documents they need, no explanation to what is missing from them and no help at all from customer support! I have reviewed the documents I sent several times and confirmed they do contain the information they asked from me.
